I came to coaching from teaching, writing, training as a counselor/therapist and social justice activism. I have a B.A. in English literature and French from U.C. Berkeley, teacher training at Teachers College, Columbia University and three years of study at U.C. Santa Cruz in psychology. I then went through the Dual Degree Master’s Program in clinical counseling psychology and transpersonal psychology at John F. Kennedy University, where I met with teenage and adult clients, both one-on-one, as well as in groups.

I have a State of California Life General Secondary teaching credential in English, French and Spanish, and several years of experience in teaching and counseling. Due to growing up in a lovely but terribly isolated small farming town in California, I’ve had to do a lot of reading to get some perspective in life. As a result, I own 2500 books and counting. The wonderful gift of growing up in the land of almond blossoms, vineyards and peach orchards, completely immersed in the physical beauty and creativity of the natural world, I turned out to be a bit of a mystic. I also have a huge passion for personal growth and transformation, and an endless passion for justice, democracy and the healing of our earth.

I believe that women are key to the healing of life on this planet! And of course we all need to heal ourselves of self-limiting beliefs as we learn to step into our true Self and find happiness, peace of mind, financial success, love, and confident, essential impact in the world.

I am delighted to now bring together all my passions – for poetry and literature, for music and beauty, justice and a deep reverence for all life on this planet – to the healing and transformative experiences that can happen via coaching. I do both group coaching and one-on-one coaching. If you would like to explore coaching with me, please click the link to schedule yourself into my calendar for a complimentary, no charge Clarity Session. You’ll come away with a lot more clarity about yourself and where you are in your process.

“People are singing your praises! Especially the teachers and of course Sister Mary Elizabeth. Thank you for turning the Learning Center around. Now every student is saying they’re behind in math or English so they can get in!”

Self Actualized WomanThe Journey

One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice–
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
“Mend my life!”
each voice cried.
But you didn’t stop.
You knew what you had to do,

though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations–
though their melancholy
was terrible.
It was already late
enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
branches and stones.
But little by little,
as you left their voices behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice,
which you slowly
recognized as your own
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do
the only thing you could do–
determined to save
the only life you could save.

Melanie you have helped me like an angel! Seriously! I was in such a bad place. Everything was falling apart, I was getting really depressed and lost. I can’t thank you enough for your kind support and guidance, like that Simon and Garfunkel song – a bridge over troubled water! Thank you, thank you. You really are an angel!     – Elise
